The Mediation Process
Family mediation typically involves a series of sessions, during which the mediator helps the family members identify the issues they need to resolve and facilitates discussions about possible solutions. During the first session, the mediator will explain the mediation process and its benefits. Each family member will have the opportunity to express their concerns and priorities. The mediator will then help the family members work together to come up with solutions that meet everyone’s needs. Once an agreement has been reached, the mediator will draft a memorandum of understanding, which outlines the agreed-upon terms.
